Home made shopping bags

A few of my shopping bags have gotten worn out lately and instead of buying new ones from the chain super market like I have always done I thought I'd have a go at making my own.
I cut up an old one to make a pattern.
I made these yesterday out of some old shirts and some fabric I picked up at a thrift shop awhile ago.

I think they turned out pretty well. Am going to make some more for friends now!

Fabulous bag ariad - great that you got to recycle the shirts also.
I have a bag made from a pair of recycled jeans somewhere on my blog that one of our forum members made it also looks fabulous.

Very nice! And it will probably last a lot longer than the standard green bags, they seem to fall apart way too quick! Clever you! (praise, praise, praise! LOL! No seriously it looks awesome!)

Pretty cool! Turned out great ... I have a collection of 7 or 8 different cloth shopping bags and they were all handmade and bartered from different mommas. Each is unique in it's own way and has it's very own story of origination to tell. :)

Those are great!
I need to make some as well. We have lots of fabric from clothes that people have passed on to us as hand-me-downs.
Warm wishes,
Tonya

Oh how I wish I could sew. I might tackle that craft later in the year. Im going to do a nuno felting class first and then hope to link the two.
Beautiful idea and I'm trying to ween myself off the big chains around here.
