Spring chuck-out!

Well I was going to say I've been spring cleaning all day today, but in fact I haven't done much cleaning; more clearing out and throwing stuff away.

It's amazing the stuff we accumulate in our lives. I've thrown out half my sheets and towels and pillow cases etc. I don't know where they all came from. Well, actually I do ;) Well meaning friends and relatives, who know that we don't have a lot of money pass their stuff on to us before it goes to the thrift shop. And while this is AWESOME sometimes, we also end up with alot of things that we'd never go out and buy.
Today I halved the amout of towels in the linen cupboard...we still have 24 towels (goddess that's heaps!) the equivalent of 4 towels each. Thing is you convince yourself that all these extras will come in handy. Well, we've had visitors stay for a week of rain and the kids have been playing out in the mud and still we've never run out of dry towels...they really had to go!

And all the half bottles and full unopened bottles of beauty care products (that we don't use becasue they contain really nasty chemicals...even most of the ones that say 'all-natural on the labels) went straight in the bin.

Oh, I wish you could see my bathroom, but today's your only chance to admire how clean and shiney it is as I'm sure that by tomorrow it'll be a mess again (even with half the stuff in it)lol.

Off to start on my bedroom now...

I know! It feels awesome to be getting rid of stuff, some of which hasn't seen the light of day for years!

I have also been getting rid of stuff left right and centre. I would love to toss out half the linen closet too but we actually need more towels! Ours are so old that they are almost ready to be chopped up for cleaning rags. I should probably buy some new ones but that would require me going shopping! arghhhhhh! Oh and so much for my clearing out. The front room now looks like the local tip. Things are slowly leaving but as quick as they move something else takes its place. Oh well, eventually there will be nothing left right?

Hugs xxxx

Definitely something in the air ... I just spent half the night decluttering the kitchen and living room. We hang on to so much CRAP around here!

But I can never bring myself to throw stuff out of the linen press ... too many crafty opportunities! Old sheets get torn into strips and crocheted, towels get cut and overlocked into squares for face washers and wipes, tablecloths make fantastic pants and I've just discovered the beauty of pillowcase dresses for little girls. I guess it's a fine line between storage and hoarding LOL!

You had *how many* towels? Goodness!

lol majikfaerie, and I didn't buy any of them! You should see the pile of rubbish from my bedroom, I don't know how it all fitted in there.

Oh yeah! That's inspiring. Same same here about the towels! I have been cutting them up as dish cloths! No more chux!! Yeah! I stash the chemical laden moisturizer gifts of expensive brands! But never dare use them... Time to go hey!
