No TV and other stuff!

We had our pay TV disconnected this week...which I am really happy about. The kids are maybe not so happy with the whole idea. We've never gotten reception for free to air TV so we are now a tv-free family. (It's been packed up and ready to sell at our garage sale)

So it's back to mindful parenting for me...

Mr T has been really interested in all things 'survival skills' orientated. He and P have been leaning how to build bush shelters and light fires with flints.

I've almost finished my crocheted blanket...I've run out of wool for the moment so it's finished until I get to the shop in a week. Meanwhile I've started another project, a throw rug for the lounge.
I pulled out this poncho for Tui the other day. I made it for Mr T when he was little and am now inspired to try some more free-style crochet. Haven't decided what to make yet though.

The kids and P went rock climbing on the weekend with our good friend mouse, I stayed home with Tui for a nice quiet day.

I did some weeding in the garden and she ate cherry tomatoes.

It's been lovey Autumn weather, beautiful warm days perfect for spending time in the garden and nice chilly evenings. Perfect weather for sitting outdoors around a fire and star gazing.

Your blanket turned out really nice ... I adore that color green! Congrats on your riddance of t.v. too. We have a tiny one though we don't pay for service and do not get any reception. So, the kids are allowed to watch a video for a special treat.
Tui looks like she's enjoying those cherry tomatoes ... lol.

That blanket is lovely - I am just learning to knit & it is wonderful creating something by hand.

We are TV free too and don''t miss it one bit :)

Hi Ariad

Oh boy, if there is one thing that I dislike in my home, it is our t.v. I start off having a big moan and place limits on viewing time, and by the end of the week, it creeps right back again. I love Waldorf education and feel that we live many of the lovely principles, but this is one that I fall short of. I must make a stand!

Your blanket is beautiful. I started crocheting a couple of weeks ago when we went on holiday. Its so nice. I made some brooches for my shop. I would love to make a blanket. Your baby is growing so...she is lovely.

Stay well happy family.

Congratulations on tipping out the telly :) I have no doubt you will find it as liberating as we did, a little over a year ago. The kids never watched it anyway so it was just mindnumbing evening drug of the nation for us. Then we got the radio addiction - permanently on - then finally we ditched that too and just listen online to specific shows. We can do the same with online programmes via iplayer or youtube or similar, but it is under our own control now and we are a much healthier family for it.
